Swerve Strickland made his debut at AEW Revolution in the spring and didn’t stop there, progressing up the ladder to be named one of the best deals of 2022. Beginning relatively slowly, he had excellent matches but lacked a genuine reason for fans to become attracted to him. Swerve Strickland is a 32-year-old veteran who has previously participated in WWE, MLW, and Lucha Underground. He was famous for being called the “Killshot” in Lucha because he wore a mask and impressed Jon Moxley with his in-ring skills at that time.

Swerve Strickland faced Wheeler Yuta in the main event of AEW Rampage, the year’s final event. It was reported that before the match, Mark Henry held a split-screen chat with Mogul Affiliates and the Blackpool Combat Club, in which Moxley was the one to drop the name “Killshot.”

Jon Moxley later talks about Swerve Strickland and appreciates how much he adores him in that interview. However, the fantastic match between Wheeler Yuta and Swerve ended in favour of Strickland. He will face one of his long-time enemies, AR Fox, on the first event of the new year’s first Wednesday. Swerve Strickland and his “associates” beat up Keith Lee on AEW Dynamite this month. Parker Boudreaux and a mystery man joined Swerve. Everyone was wondering who Swerve’s mysterious guy was.

The mysterious guy was no other than Granden Goetzman, a minor league baseball player with facial tattoos and braids. MLB prospect Goetzman has signed with All Elite Wrestling. In 2011, he represented the Tampa Bay Rays in the Tampa, St. Louis, and Houston minor leagues. Speedy outfielder Goetzman has yet to make an impression in his primary career.

Jon Moxley praises Swerve Strickland

“Now Swerve, you’re an incredible athlete. Hell, Killshot was my favorite wrestler for, like, years.” Jon Moxley claims that Swerve has been one of his favourite athletes at the time when he played Killshot in Lucha Underground.

After being such a successful wrestler, he thinks that his career at WWE was not supposed to end like this, as he claims that they ignored his talent. WWE kicked Swerve Strickland out of the WWE during a mass release in 2021, despite fans seeing him as one of the heroes of the future as the NXT North American Champion. Strickland said on Chris Jericho’s podcast, ‘Talk is Jericho,’ that Triple H neglected him during his stint in WWE, whereas Shawn Michaels always wanted him to be a star.
